It seems that everyone is on Twitter now and it is possible to keep in touch with any of your friends or favorite celebrities. For the people ‘twittering’ it can be a good way to reach a lot of people at once and in the case of musicians or performers they can promote their latest event. There are actions however that just confuse, annoy and ultimately mean people close their accounts or at least ignore them.
However hard many people have tried to resist it they have ultimately got involved and opened up a Twitter account. The temptation may be to keep in touch with people and only post important issues but that soon changes. As other people put out more and more pointless remarks others follow and soon it becomes a list of comments that makes no sense whatsoever.
There are at least 5 reasons why Twitter makes no sense
Reason #1
Retweets — someone you follow decides to send all their followers the views of someone they are following. It might be a good and interest subject but in reality if you were that interested in the person’s views you would be following them yourselves. Many times it is only one comment in a string of remarks so you can’t understand the context in which it has been written.
Reason #2
The remarks made often do not make any sense at all. If you read that someone is “waiting for the inevitable” or “can’t believe that just happened” unless you know exactly where they are or what they are doing it will be pointless reading as it could be anything. Very often people who tweet this sort of remark find themselves un-followed very quickly. This sort of remark really is best left for Facebook or a similar networking site as at least there can be a conversation following to find out what has happened.
Reason #3
Not all the people on Twitter are who they say they are. Some people follow who they think is their favorite celebrity only to realize that it is someone else pretending to be that person. There have been some funny spoofs, but it rather spoils the point of Twitter. There is no sense in following a complete stranger who is making things up as they go along.
Reason #4
Views are not really as honest as they could be. As many people are followed by people who they do not really want to know what they are doing they may doctor the tweets just to make an impression.
Reason #5
In order to respond to direct messages you have to follow someone. If someone re-tweets a remark and someone wants more information they cannot direct message the other poster unless they follow them. This means that if you want information on one thing you need to follow that person to send the message. Facebook lets you send anyone a message even if you are not Facebook friends.
There will probably be many more reasons why other people think Twitter makes no sense but then again many will think it is ideal. As it develops there may be changes made that stop some of the strange posts but only time will tell.
