10 Steps to Install a Google Plus Widget for WordPress

Have you been patiently waiting for a quality Google+ widget for your WordPress site? Look no further! WebpageFX just created the coolest “Google Plus Widget.”  It is a fantastic plugin that allows your visitors to see the number of Google+ followers you have.  It is unique because it shows the profile picture of your account. You also have the ability to customize the title of the widget, or you can leave it as the default “Follow me on Google+”. To read a little more about this new plugin, read the following blog post about the Google Plus Widget. Now let’s get started on the installation!

You are going to need your Google+ ID number. You may be asking, “What in the world is that?” It is quite simple actually. After you log in to Google+, look at the URL. It should look something like this:

Write down that number because you will need it later.

Step 1– Log in to your WordPress and click on “Plugins-> Add New”

Step 2– Do a search to find the “Google Plus Widget” by WebpageFX.

Step 3– Install the plugin.

Step 4– Activate the plugin.

Step 5– Click the widgets button on the left side of the page.

Step 6– Drag the “GoogleCard” widget to the sidebar that is featured on the right hand side. Does your screen look like this?

Step 7– You are just about done! Keep the title the same or change it to whatever you would like.

Step 8– Remember that Google ID that we talked about earlier? Paste it in appropriately.

Step 9– Click Save.

Step 10– Enjoy the Google+ Widget on your WordPress page!

I believe that this widget will be very beneficial for you as Google+ continues to grow in popularity. Features are continually being added. For example, it was just announced that Google will be adding games to the Google Plus site. Some of the initial games will include “Bejeweled Blitz” and everyone’s favorite time killer, “Angry Birds.”

Another (existing) feature that allows Google Plus to have a competitive advantage over other social media sites is “Hangouts” video chatting. For example, college students can log in and meet up with up to 10 friends to have a study session for their upcoming midterm. The possibilities are endless and I am extremely excited to see what the future holds for Google Plus!
